NWLSD is Improving Student Achievement
Academic Achievements

The Northwest Local School District is going beyond to raise our academic achievements. Last year, our District had several improvements that we are proud to celebrate. Below we have compiled a list of the achievements for every school. Please join us in celebrating our hard working students and dedicated administrators and staff that are working hard to #GoBeyond

District Improvements:

Increased Grade 3 ELA percent proficient by 13.2 percentage points

Increased Grade 7 ELA percent proficient by 7.7 percentage points

Increased Geometry percent proficient by 18.9 percentage points, result for NWLSD is 10.5 points above state average

Met HS End of Course Retake Indicator

Gap Closing - Grade of B (was a C): Improved ELA, Improved Math, Met OELPA, ED PI increased 4 points for ELA and Math, Gap Closing Graduation - exceeded state goal for all subgroups! EL graduation rate of 90% (goal is 61.2%, prior year was 50%)

Graduation - B (Improved 5 year graduation rate from C to B)


Colerain Elementary Improvements:

Increased percent proficient for 6 of 7 academic indicators 

Increased Grade 3 ELA percent proficient by 13.2 percentage points

Met the indicator for 4th grade Math

Increased performance index by 7 points

Gap Closing - Grade of B (was a D): Improved ELA, Improved Math, Met OELPA

Large improvement in Gap Closing for SWD in ELA and Math (Closed existing gap by 41%)


Monfort Heights Elementary Improvements:

Increased Grade 3 ELA percent proficient by 23.9 percentage points, MET the Indicator

Increased Grade 3 MATH percent proficient by 16.2 percentage points, MET the Indicator

Increased Grade 4 MATH percent proficient by 6.3 percentage points, MET the Indicator

Met the OELPA indicator for Gap Closing (85.0%)

Met indicator for Chronic Absenteeism


Pleasant Run Elementary Improvements:

Increased Grade 4 ELA percent proficient by 6.4 percentage points

Met the OELPA indicator for Gap Closing (63.0%)

Increased PI for Economically Disadvantaged by 8.3 points for ELA



Struble Elementary Improvements:

(2017-18 data is from AWE)

Increased Grade 3 ELA percent proficient by 14.5 percentage points, MET the Indicator

Increased Grade 4 MATH percent proficient by 1.8 percentage points, MET the indicator 

Met indicator for Chronic Absenteeism

Gap Closing B - all subgroups earned 100 points for ELA

Met the OELPA indicator for Gap Closing (76.8%)



Taylor Elementary Improvements:

Increased Grade 3 ELA percent proficient by 18.6 percentage points

Increased performance index by 2.8 points

Gap Closing B (was an F), large gains for MR, White, ED, and SWD in ELA and ED for Math; 


Colerain Middle School Improvements:

Increased Grade 6 ELA percent proficient by 6.4 percentage points

Increased Grade 7 ELA percent proficient by 10 percentage points

Increased Grade 8 ELA percent proficient by 8.1 percentage points

Increased Grade 6 MATH percent proficient by 13.1 percentage points

Increased Grade 7 MATH percent proficient by 2.6 percentage points

Increased Grade 8 MATH percent proficient by 1.6 percentage points

MET the indicator for ALG 1

Increased performance index by 3.5 points

Gap Closing B (was an F), gains in ELA/Math for SWD; All students PI up by 4.3 points in ELA and 3.6 in Math


Pleasant Run Middle School Improvements:

Increased Grade 7 ELA percent proficient by 2.6 percentage points

Increased Grade 8 ELA percent proficient by 3.5 percentage points

Increased Grade 6 MATH percent proficient by 5.2 percentage points

MET the indicator for ALG 1

Met indicator for Chronic Absenteeism (improvement)

Gap Closing - increased PI for Hispanic by 12.2 points, exceeded state goal for Black and Hispanic for ELA


White Oak Middle School Improvements:

Increased Grade 6 ELA percent proficient by 4.2 percentage points

Increased Grade 7 ELA percent proficient by 10.9 percentage points

Increased Grade 8 ELA percent proficient by 3.7 percentage points

Increased Grade 6 MATH percent proficient by 2.3 percentage points

MET the indicator for ALG 1

Increased performance index by 1.2

Gap Closing - exceeded state PI goal for Black, Hispanic, ED, and EL in ELA and Hispanic and EL for Math



Colerain High School Improvements:

Increased ELA 1 percent proficient by 2.4 percentage points

Increased ELA 2 percent proficient by 6 percentage points

Increased Geometry percent proficient by 22 percentage points

Increased American History percent proficient by 10 percentage points

MET the indicator for American History

MET the indicator for American Government

MET the indicator for EOC Retakes

Increased performance index by 7 points, Improved Grade from D to C.

Increased 4 year graduation rate of 92.3% B (was a C)

Gap Closing - exceeded state PI goal for Black, Hispanic, Multi-Racial, White, ED, EL for ELA and Black, Hispanic, ED, and EL for Math; HUGE improvement in Math for SWD (closed gap by 82%); all students subgroup increased PI by 10.2 (61% of gap)



Northwest High School Improvements:

Increased ELA 1 percent proficient by 1.6 percentage points

Increased ELA 2 percent proficient by 3.7 percentage points

Increased Geometry percent proficient by 13.4 percentage points

Increased American History percent proficient by 1.4 percentage points

Increased performance index by 0.9 points

Increased 4 year graduation rate of 93.4% A (was a B)

Increased 5 year graduation rate of 91.4% (was a C)

Gap Closing - exceeded state PI goal for Black, Hispanic, Multiracial, Econ Disadvantaged in ELA and Black and Hispanic for Math
